Legal treatment of FIP with GS-441524

In early 2025, a foundation was established for the legal treatment of FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis) in cats using GS-441524. Delpech, a French pharmacy in Paris founded back in 1873, produces special compounded formulations—such as pastes, suspensions, or tablets—upon veterinary prescription and supplies them directly to pet owners. These preparations are manufactured in accordance with EU guidelines and undergo rigorous testing.

This provides a legal alternative to the illicit purchase of products via “support groups” or “grey market imports” from dubious online sources. Such “goods” fail to meet European quality standards and are frequently seized by customs authorities as illegal grey market imports. The distribution of these “remedies” is prohibited within the EU; most recently, the Regional Court of Cologne banned Google from advertising illegal GS products, imposing a penalty of €100,000 for any repeat violation.
